Florida Medicaid and Dental Service and ages

We are now accepting MEDICAID patients for dental care from the age of 5 - 20. We are taking medicaid patients for dental care for south Florida including dade and broward counties. Some of the cities we are now serving are Hollywood, Lauderhill, Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Plantation, Cooper City, Weston, Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, Miramar, Hallandale, Miami, Miami Beach and Boca Raton.

Below are answers to common medicaid questions in our office:

We only accept “regular” Medicaid, also known as Straight Medicaid (no HMO attached). We accepts Medipass and "regular" Medicaid or "straight" medicaid. The benefit to Straight Medicaid is portability. You do not need a referral to go to any Medicaid provider in the State of Florida. The downside is that you would not be able to choose any other plans without having the exemption removed. Most Medicaid recipients are not allowed to be in Straight Medicaid. If Straight Medicaid does become an option, that is only because the Medicaid Manager at FSMO has submitted a Managed Care Exemption form to the AHCA office. If your child is exempt, then you the parent do not have the option to pick any of the other six Medicaid Options. If you choose to have another plan, you would have to contact the Medicaid Manager at FSMO to remove the exemption from the AHCA office.

Medicaid Dental service cover for children under 21: The Medicaid children’s dental services program covers for x-rays, dental exam, cleaning, white fillings, root canal, gum treatment, extractions and more.

Medicaid Dental service cover for adults 21 and over: Adults Medicaid neither cover cleaning nor gum treatment. Adult Medicaid only covers exams, x-rays, dentures and extractions. Patient getting dentures with implant have to pay for the implants. Only the exam and x-rays are cover for gum treatment or deep cleaning. Single and multiples dental implants are not cover for adult Medicaid.

At times, individuals confuse Medicaid and Medicare. Our dental office only takes Medicaid. Call today at 954-432-7771 to schedule your dental appointment
